The first week of school can be equally difficult and exciting for students and teachers. The summer break is over and the early starts begin again, as you learn all about your new students and get accustomed to your new classroom space remember to hold on to the excitement of new beginnings.
Get to know your new students with icebreaker games or get-to-know-them sheets, whether they are entering secondary school for the first time or moving up a year in their current school a lot can change in the summer break. The insights that you learn from these activities can help you to tailor your teaching approach for different needs to create an engaging and fulfilling learning environment.
Share your values and ideas, and take the time to talk a little bit about yourself as a teacher and as much about your personality as you are comfortable bringing into the classroom. By the end of the first week, your students will already have developed a bond with you and a respect for your values. This will prove beneficial throughout the year as students respond better to the teaching styles of teachers they have a bond with.
Become accustomed to your new classroom space, it is hard to truly see how a space works for you until you have spent some time in it and learned how both you and your students navigate the room. This may lead to last-minute changes that require quick turnarounds – and we can help with that.
If you have discovered that you are short of some furniture in your classroom, or your current furniture is no longer suitable for your needs we are here to deliver quality solutions within the time frame you need.
